Myths debunked – Hats & Sunglasses

FACT: A hat will provide some protection from the sun. You should not rely on a hat only to protect your eyes from the sun.

Sunglasses with UV protection should be part of you outfit when you plan a fun day in the sun.

Sunrays are reflected from water and sand upwards to your face. Hats are great at protecting your face and neck from the sun. To protect your eyes, you need sunglasses too. Harmful rays from the sun can cause premature ageing, early development of cataracts as well as pterygiums and even macular degeneration.

MYTH BUSTED: Wearing a hat only will protect your eyes from the sun.
